Bad news for German fans: F1 return to Nürburgring seems ruled out

Formula 1 does not seem to be returning to the Nürburgring any time soon, the circuit management has made clear. The last Formula 1 Grand Prix at Nürburgring was held in 2020 during the Covid-19 pandemic, but no new edition of the Grand Prix seems to be on the cards in the short term.

About a week ago, it was announced that there will be a rotation system in Formula 1, with the Belgian Grand Prix at Spa-Francorchamps only on the calendar every two years from 2027 onwards, making it possible to have a German Grand Prix to be a part of this new system. However, according to Nürburgring spokesman Alexander Gerhard, this is a loss-making project.

Unfortunately, there is no way that paying to organise a Grand Prix for the circuit would be self-sustainable, they revealed to Sky Sports Germany. The administrators would then have to pay to be on the calendar and cover the costs, and according to the administrators themselves, this seems like an impossible task.
