Amanda Balionis was missing from telling Full Swing episode featuring Rory McIlroy

The popular sportscaster featured in every episode bar one of the third season of Netflix’s hit golf docuseries, remaining out of the spotlight for the episode about McIlroy’s brief divorce proceedings

Amanda Balionis was nowhere to be seen as Rory McIlroy discussed his brief divorce proceedings and subsequent reconciliation with his wife, Erica Stoll, in an episode of Full Swing.

The third season of Netflix’s hit golf docuseries – which follows the lives of some of the biggest names in the sport – was released towards the end of last month, providing behind-the-scenes footage from the 2024 PGA Tour season throughout the last year.

Alongside McIlroy, the likes of world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler and Bryson DeChambeau appear in Season 3, while a number of returning stars, as well as some new faces, are also present throughout the seven-episode slate. Viewers, however, were quick to notice the absence of one popular figure during the series.

Balionis was a familiar face in the first two seasons of the Netflix production and once again plays a pivotal part in the latest installment, conducting interviews and providing insight on some of the Tour’s biggest moments for viewers watching back home.
However, the CBS reporter was a notable absence from the episode which focuses on McIlroy’s turbulent relationship with his wife, Erica, whom he filed for divorce from in May 2024 after seven years of marriage, before confirming just weeks later that they had worked through their differences and decided to stay together.

During that time, though, rumors emerged of a potential romance between McIlroy and Balionis, who often interact during post-match interviews. Earlier this year, following the Northern Irishman’s victory at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, he shared a warm hug with Balionis during the post-tournament interview.
Such speculation has been addressed and dismissed by credible sources, with reports stating that McIlroy and Balionis have maintained a strictly professional relationship, with there being no romantic involvement between them. Neither of them, however, have personally responded to the claims.

Balionis has been married to football coach Bryn Renner since 2022 but eagle-eyed viewers soon spotted that she was appearing live on TV without her wedding ring around the time of the claims involving her and McIlroy, leading to further speculation about her personal life and a possible romantic relationship between the duo.

However, the 39-year-old – who has been seen without her wedding ring for the best part of a year – is reportedly still married to Renner. Neither of them have confirmed that they have split but there are speculations that Balionis has separated from the former Baltimore Ravens quarterback.
Her absence from that one Full Swing episode which covers McIlroy’s personal struggles remains particularly noticeable though, leaving room for speculation as to whether it was a production decision or a personal choice. Neither Balionis or Netflix have commented on why she did not appear in the episode.
