Good guy, Bryson DeChambeau, is back to doing what the fans love! He may not be in the ideal position to win the 2025 PGA Championship, having committed a bogey and a double at the end of the third round, and having a 6-stroke difference with the leader. But he didn’t shy away from giving back some love to the community.

A recent video tweeted by Golf on CBS showed Bryson DeChambeau signing a ball, hitting one putt with it, then giving it to a little boy. “Man of the people,” the caption called him, and rightfully so. We all remember the incident from last year’s PGA Championship, where on the final day, after completing the first 9, he threw his ball to a kid. Then, instead of a kid, a grown man caught it, and Bryson stopped and turned back toward the rope, pointing out the man with his putter.
“Hey!” DeChambeau shouted at the man. His call only grew louder as the man was trying to exit the scene. “Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey! HEY! HEY! HEY!” The crowd cheering on DeChambeau as he marched to the next hole suddenly fell silent. “Give that ball back,” someone from the crowd screamed as the man came back to DeChambeau. “Come on, buddy,” DeChambeau told the man as his walk of shame back turned into a hustle of embarrassment. These weren’t the only times he had proven himself to be a fan favorite.
A few days ago, headlines revealed that the Crushers GC captain had fulfilled the wish of a young fan battling cancer. Amid the controversy where DeChambeau faced a lot of heat for falsely accusing Rory McIlroy of not talking to him in the final round at ANGC, he got in touch with the fan and spent about 30 minutes speaking with him. In the end, the LIV Golf pro also agreed to meet him for a round of golf.
DeChambeau flew the 14-year-old Evans and his mom to Dallas for a whole day of activities. They were welcomed to the golfer’s home, had a great lunch with him, and the LIV Golf player also let the young fan choose an outfit from his closet. By evening, the trio visited a nearby course where DeChambeau & Evans played a round of golf. The 31-year-old even drove them back to the airport for their trip back home.
While both have had a tough outing at Quail Hollow, the difference between the attitudes of Rory McIlroy and Bryson DeChambeau is alarming. But is the LIV Golf pro winning this battle again?
What’s your perspective on:
Is Bryson DeChambeau the true \’man of the people\’ while Rory McIlroy loses touch with fans?
Bryson DeChambeau becomes the “man of the people” while Rory McIlroy avoids them
Before the 2025 PGA Championship began, Bryson DeChambeau had addressed the ‘bad blood’ between him and Rory McIlroy. Continuing their rivalry from ANGC, DeChambeau stated that he would like to face McIlroy again in a final round battle at Quail Hollow. While the two might not be the favorites to compete for the title on Sunday, there is another battle between them that the LIV Golf pro might have already won.
DeChambeau’s gesture towards his fans is winning everyone over. Even the media is promoting him as a good guy. However, McIlroy hasn’t had the best interactions with the reporters recently. He has refused to make any comments on his disappointing run. He is also being accused of using an illegal driver to gain an advantage over his peers. That has put the 29-time PGA Tour winner in a bad light recently. Rory McIlroy may have won the Green Jacket this year, but it’s Bryson DeChambeau who is winning the hearts of the fans.
